"Woodfish" Morchella, The prized morel mushroom. These small fungi are one of the most popular mushrooms across the globe. They can only be picked in the wild and are very picky when and where they want to live.
I painted this in my beginning years of picking morels and wanted to capture that feeling of when you've been questing for the holy grail for what seems like weeks. Then you crest a hill and "behold" you have finally found it, after all that toil and struggle. Is there anything more setting of a mood than warm sunbeams through tree cover or beautiful clouds? Perhaps in the Old Growth Forest?
