Shootin’ the Wild depicts just that, a wild figure in a volatile yet beautiful environment. I wonder what he’s aiming at?
One of my favorite landmasses is to paint in Central Montana is Square Butte. Square Butte is a laccolith, an intrusion of magma up through weaker layers of rock formed millions of years ago. Pictured in the background of this somewhat western image is this interesting butte. I painted this under the teachings of Mr.Dan Deegan. I did not have a photo to work from for the environment or the mountain, so it is a memory painting of Square Butte. The cowboy on the horse however was borrowed from a magazine long ago.
